Ted Cruz Candidate Profile [Opinion]
Ted Cruz is the strongest conservative candidate running for President. He has devoted his entire career to defending the Constitution, standing up for our citizens’ rights, and living a Godly life. America needs a President who can fix all of the disastrous problems created by our Commanders in Chief in the last 20 years. We need a leader who is guided by a Biblical moral compass, not swayed by the neurotic political correctness of “social justice warriors”, and wholly devoted to the principles that have allowed our great nation to endure for over 200 years. That leader is Ted Cruz.
There are only three republican candidates still battling it out for the nomination. Donald Trump is not a real conservative. He is unintelligent, unintelligible, uninformed, selfish, hypocritical, and petty. With characteristics like that, it’s really quite surprising that he’s not running as a Democrat. John Kasich, on the other hand, is actually a really great man, and would probably make a fine President. But with his mediocre performance so far, he simply is not going to win. For the duration of his campaign, Marco Rubio seemed to mirror Ted Cruz’s opinions on almost every issue. After dropping out last week, it is no surprise that Rubio has declared Cruz the “only true conservative left in the race”. If you were a Rubio supporter, or currently are a Kasich supporter, it is time that you move to supporting Cruz instead. If you are a Trump supporter, it is time that you wake up from the Siren-like enchantment of his loaded rhetoric, and analyze his credibility more closely. He is completely unqualified to lead any country, let alone the greatest country on Earth.
Not only does Ted Cruz understand that America is the greatest country on Earth, he comes from the greatest state on Earth! I’m kidding, in a way, but I want to illustrate the fact that his home state of Texas has a distinct culture grounded in the ideals of American exceptionalism. The majority of Texans are Protestant Evangelical Christian, gun owning, anti-abortionist, pro-traditional marriage, capitalist, anti-drug, and anti-federalist. These are the principles most Texans hold dear to their hearts. These are the principles Ted Cruz fought for during his time as Solicitor General, successfully defending Texas nine times before the U.S. Supreme Court. These are the principles Ted Cruz fought for when he filibustered against the unconstitutional disaster that is Obamacare. These are the principles Ted Cruz will fight, more vigorously than ever, when he is President of the United States.
Yes, the GOP pretty much hates him. Why wouldn’t they? The party is filled with career politicians, concerned only with appeasing as many people as necessary in order to keep their jobs. Ted Cruz is not a career politician. He does not bend to the wills of the influential and rich. He unfailingly acts according to the ideas he believes in. He is the anti-establishment candidate. When he is elected President, the establishment politicians will be pushed out of office as the floodgates of true conservatism open. As he often alludes to, this will be a Reagan Revolution. We will experience unparalleled economic growth by embracing the proven principles of free-market capitalism. We will witness the younger generations rejuvenated with a proper sense of and respect for familial, civic, and patriotic duties. We will see a President that works to bring understanding and peace between ethnic groups, rather than (through inaction and ill-conceived reaction) encouraging violent uprisings like Obama has. We will see a country full of people that respect authority, revere police, honor veterans, and understand what it takes to be successful. Hard-working Americans will have the freedom to live like hard-working Americans.
I didn’t write this to try to persuade radical liberals to vote Ted Cruz. That’s not going to happen, and I understand that. If you’re wholly committed to a self-declared socialist (Bernie) or a secret socialist criminal (Hillary), no appeals to the importance of conservative values will be able to convince you. I could go into detail about the specifics of Cruz’s beliefs and goals, but that would require much more time and space.
